The World Water Week in Stockholm 23-28 August: Water for Development
Water is central to this challenge. Our lives and livelihoods, along with other living creatures, depend on water. Without it we cannot sustain a productive economy to live healthy lives, produce food, energy and other basic necessities and commodities. This is why World Water Week in Stockholm focuses on these issues; 2015 the year for renewed global commitments.
World Water Week in Stockholm is the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. It is organized by SIWI. The World Water Week has been the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues since 1991 and is a platform for over 200 collaborating organizations to convene events about water and development issues. Individuals from around the globe also present their findings at the scientific workshops.
The programme of 2015 World Water Week consist of over 160 events and 8 workshops. During the 90-minute events, the most relevant topics relating to “Water for Development” were discussed – i.e. Financing, SDGs, Integrity, Gender issues, Climate Change, Energy, Sanitation, Food, Conflict Resolution, Water Management…
To speak out the voices of our members, our Steering Committee members Asma Bachikh, Antonella Vagliente ,Susanne Reitsma ,Elena Tsay, Ágatha Tommasi , Abigail Fellay , Young Park and Hassan Aboelnga have attended several events during the World Water Week.
Asma had a Speech as WYPW President in GWP booth and at the United Nations Water session.
Antonella Vagliente had a presentation about Keys for successful youth engagement.
